A Message from Mr. Hubbard: Good Evening Pirate Nation. I am convinced that I work in the greatest school district in the world with the greatest staff, students, and parents in the world. Thanks to each of you that have participated in the first day of our Virtual Spirit Week. A special thank you to all the walkers and sponsors that made the Walk for Chilton Community Event a success. Thanks to the walkers in Chilton and throughout the community. The highlight of my day has been watching and posting the many TikTok videos that have been sent to me. I have decided to give several awards for the TikTok challenge because so many people participated: The Funniest TikTok Award goes to Mrs. Kimberly Oliver in her Hide and Seek TikTok video. The Most Creative Award goes to Coach Darvis Brandon for his Agricultural Integration. The Most Relevant TikTok Award goes to Evan Maxey in his portrayal of the runaway student. The Most Team Spirit Team Award goes to the Volleyball Squad. The Most School Spirit Award goes to our Throwback Pep Squad of Mrs. Coach Black, Mrs. Lahoma Taylor, and Mrs. Jennifer Sharp. The purpose of TikTok Tuesday Spirit Day was to reassure everyone that we can still smile through tough times. I hope everyone enjoyed creating and watching the videos. Wednesday, April 15, 2020 is Drop Everything And Read or DEAR Wednesday. We encourage everyone to take a few minutes and spend time reading a book that is inspirational to you. As always, I will try and keep our social media current with images. Tomorrow our Community Zoom will begin at 10:00 a.m. We will hold a virtual scavenger hunt that you will not want to miss. Our Motivational Moment will be given by Mrs. Jennifer Sharp, Secondary Principal at 11:00 p.m. We will continue with our Elementary and Secondary activities to encourage engagement. Finally, we will post a reflection activity for all Chilton ISD stakeholders to engage. Our Mindset Focus will be the 100% Accountable Mindset. I look forward to seeing each of you tomorrow on the Community Zoom meeting. Brandon K. Hubbard, Superintendent of Schools

Good Afternoon Pirate Nation, I hope everyone had a restful and relaxing Easter break. For the week of April 14, 2020 we are going to pause and focus on creating a virtual community and some social and emotional aspects that make the Chilton Community strong. For this week, teachers will not assign any additional assignments. However, those students who are behind should use this week as an opportunity to catch up and get assistance from teachers where needed. Though we are not making any additional assignments, teachers will still be available for contact for questions regarding assignments. Beginning Tuesday, April 14, 2020, we will post several motivational and academically engaging activities for the Chilton community and our staff and students. The schedule will be as follows: At 10:00 a.m. each morning, there will be a community zoom with Mr. Hubbard. The community zoom will focus on having fun and completing virtual activities as a Chilton ISD community. All students, staff, parents, and community members are welcomed to attend. At 11:00 a.m. each morning, there will be a Motivational Moment from a community or Chilton ISD staff member. This Motivational Moment will be posted to the district Facebook page. At 1:00 p.m. each afternoon, the Chilton ISD will post elementary and secondary academic activities that are engaging and fun. These activities are designed to cause students, parents, and teachers to think “outside the box” and have fun learning. Finally, each afternoon, we will post a reflection activity based upon our 7 Mindsets curriculum. This activity will encourage students to write and reflect on their current situations and how their mindset can help or hinder their situation. We encourage all students, parents, teachers, administrators, and community members to engage in these activities. More importantly, for community engagement, each of the days this week will have a theme: The themes are as follows: Tuesday: TikTok Tuesday. Each student and staff member are encouraged to create a school appropriate TikTok video showing Chilton ISD Spirit. After created, please email the video to Mr. Hubbard. We will attempt to post as many videos of our students and staff members showing school spirit in new and unusual ways. Wednesday: Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) Wednesday. Take a picture of yourself reading in your favorite place. After created, please email your pictures to Mr. Hubbard. Thursday: Thankful Thursday. Use your social media platform, text message, sticky notes, create signs, or whatever means available to compose messages to show appreciation to those first responders and essential workers making sacrifices to meet needs during the pandemic. Friday: Celebrate Us Friday. Send a message to at least five staff members and students letting them know how they enrich your life as a member of Chilton ISD. As a culminating event for our Celebrate Us Friday, we are planning a parade to reach out to our Marlin family. We will post a schedule a routes prior to Friday. We want to remind all of Chilton ISD that our community matters. More importantly, the Chilton ISD is strong because our people are strong! #ChiltonStrong #RefuseToSink

Good Afternoon Pirates. We have added Zoom passcodes to the Secondary Folder for the week of April 6, 2020. If you have trouble accessing a Zoom meeting, please contact the teacher or principal. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. The Zoom program has recently updated security features to help ensure outside individuals are not accessing our class sessions. In addition, teachers have enacted waiting room requirements to better manage those gaining access to our zoom meetings. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding.
