Good Afternoon Pirate Nation, I hope everyone had a restful and relaxing Easter break. For the week of April 14, 2020 we are going to pause and focus on creating a virtual community and some social and emotional aspects that make the Chilton Community strong. For this week, teachers will not assign any additional assignments. However, those students who are behind should use this week as an opportunity to catch up and get assistance from teachers where needed. Though we are not making any additional assignments, teachers will still be available for contact for questions regarding assignments. Beginning Tuesday, April 14, 2020, we will post several motivational and academically engaging activities for the Chilton community and our staff and students. The schedule will be as follows: At 10:00 a.m. each morning, there will be a community zoom with Mr. Hubbard. The community zoom will focus on having fun and completing virtual activities as a Chilton ISD community. All students, staff, parents, and community members are welcomed to attend. At 11:00 a.m. each morning, there will be a Motivational Moment from a community or Chilton ISD staff member. This Motivational Moment will be posted to the district Facebook page. At 1:00 p.m. each afternoon, the Chilton ISD will post elementary and secondary academic activities that are engaging and fun. These activities are designed to cause students, parents, and teachers to think “outside the box” and have fun learning. Finally, each afternoon, we will post a reflection activity based upon our 7 Mindsets curriculum. This activity will encourage students to write and reflect on their current situations and how their mindset can help or hinder their situation. We encourage all students, parents, teachers, administrators, and community members to engage in these activities. More importantly, for community engagement, each of the days this week will have a theme: The themes are as follows: Tuesday: TikTok Tuesday. Each student and staff member are encouraged to create a school appropriate TikTok video showing Chilton ISD Spirit. After created, please email the video to Mr. Hubbard. We will attempt to post as many videos of our students and staff members showing school spirit in new and unusual ways. Wednesday: Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) Wednesday. Take a picture of yourself reading in your favorite place. After created, please email your pictures to Mr. Hubbard. Thursday: Thankful Thursday. Use your social media platform, text message, sticky notes, create signs, or whatever means available to compose messages to show appreciation to those first responders and essential workers making sacrifices to meet needs during the pandemic. Friday: Celebrate Us Friday. Send a message to at least five staff members and students letting them know how they enrich your life as a member of Chilton ISD. As a culminating event for our Celebrate Us Friday, we are planning a parade to reach out to our Marlin family. We will post a schedule a routes prior to Friday. We want to remind all of Chilton ISD that our community matters. More importantly, the Chilton ISD is strong because our people are strong! #ChiltonStrong #RefuseToSink
