Virtual Notification

October 10, 2020

Dear Pirate Nation,

In an abundance of caution for our staff and students, the Chilton ISD will switch to virtual learning beginning Monday, October 12, 2020 through Friday, October 16, 2020.  At present, there are nine lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases within the Chilton ISD.  Additionally, there are several staff and students awaiting results.  All assignments and instruction will be posted to the Google Classroom platform and we encourage parents and students to frequent the Chilton ISD website for additional updates.  In order to receive attendance credit, all students must complete the daily attendance check assignments for their courses.

During this closure, the Child Nutrition department will serve from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in a grab and go fashion.  Parents will be able to pick up a breakfast and lunch meal for their students.  Extra-curricular and co-curricular events during this closure will be very limited.  Coaches will contact student athletes to provide further guidance during this closure.

Though we are seeing an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases impacting the Chilton ISD, our contact tracing efforts have shown that the majority of cases are originating outside of school.  We urge our students and families to engage in safe practices when traveling throughout the community.  Our teachers, students and student athletes have worked hard to ensure a safe start to the 2020-2021 school year and we want to give them the best opportunity at continuing.  Furthermore, our administrative team will use this week to evaluate and update our procedures to ensure staff and student safety.

While out, the Chilton ISD will be working to install the new Ecoloxtech 240 Hypochlorous Acid machine and foggers in each classroom.  Additionally, we will continue to work to improve air purification technology in each classroom to further mitigate and prevent the transmission and spread of pathogens within our school environment.  The campus will be open to teachers on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 through Thursday, October 15, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for instructional purposes only.  All instructional staff must follow COVID-19 entry protocols when entering the building.  On Monday, October 12, 2020 and Friday, October 16, 2020 all facilities will only be accessible to maintenance, child nutrition, and administrative personnel.

If your student begins to experience any of the COVID-19 symptoms mentioned below, please contact Nurse Melissa Bobo or your primary physician.

  • Temperature at or above 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Sore throat
  • Cough
  • Nausea, Diarrhea, or Vomiting
  • Headache or Body aches

Thank you, in advance, for your cooperation and understanding as we navigate this situation.  If you have any questions, please contact Brandon Hubbard at bhubbard@chiltonisd.org.
