National Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes a diverse group of people with roots in Spain and other Spanish-speaking nations in North America, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. National Hispanic Heritage Month falls during the anniversaries of independence for several Latin American countries - Costa Rica, El Savador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Mexico. The Chilton ISD will celebrate and honor the diverse and cultural traditions afforded as a result of Hispanic Heritage.
Currently, approximately 65% of the Chilton ISD student enrollment is Hispanic. Throughout the month, students will engage in academically and culturally relevant activities in their social studies and fine arts courses to commemorate the contributions of the Hispanic culture. Chilton ISD activities will culminate during the week of October 5 with a more focused daily celebration of Hispanic culture.
