Chilton News

Summer slide is defined as the decline in academic skills during summer months when school is not in session. Research studies indicate that this phenomenon is especially true for reading and math calculation abilities.

In order to combat this phenomenon, the Chilton I.S.D. is offering the STARS (Students That Are Reaching Success) Enrichment program focused on Space Exploration in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Mission. Students in grades 3 thru 8 will experience the core academics in an integrated setting that is relevant and engaging. We begin Monday, June 3, 2019 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Students will be served breakfast and lunch. Transportation will be available for ALL students. Transportation will leave from the Marlin tennis courts at 6:15 a.m. (it will be worth it!) and pick-up in the Golinda area will begin at 6:40 a.m.

The Chilton I.S.D. is committed to offering our students incredible opportunities during the summer, however, these opportunities are not without cost. Our student cohorts will have opportunities to experience learning at Legoland in Grapevine, the TSTC Challenger Exhibit, the Mayborn Museum SpaceX exhibit, and NASA in Houston, depending on their cohort group. We currently have 75+ students enrolled in our program in grades 3 thru 8. In order to participate in these learning experiences, we anticipate a cost of approximately $11.00 per student. We WILL NOT turn any of our students away due to cost. Thus, we are asking those who are willing to sponsor students for these learning experiences to please contact the school. Thank you for helping us to provide our Chilton I.S.D. students the best learning opportunities available.

This will be an experience your child will never forget!
